One of the most interesting new features in SQL Server 2014 is updatable clustered columnstore index. Actually it is a major breakthrough that brings core SQL Server to the league of products like Vertica, Sybase IQ etc - those capable of analyzing hundreds of gigabytes of data in real-time. But like any powerful tool, it should be treated with caution. In this session we will start with brief overview of columnstore index in general and then dive into clustered columnstore index internals: how it works, how it is updated, how to use it efficiently and how to avoid huge performance issues when clustered columnstore index isn't used in a proper way. And as usual - demos, demos, demos.
